Build Community through Foundation Volunteer Opportunities
Are you looking for a way to support your community, but not sure where to start? Consider sharing your skills and expertise with growing LGBTQ+ businesses and organizations through the ORPIB Foundation! We have several great opportunities for you to directly support and help strengthen the LGBTQ+ community in Oregon and Southwest Washington–often without even leaving your house!
The Foundation is looking for volunteers in three key areas: mentors for the Mentorship and Incubator programs, as well as board members. If you’re reading this and think you’re not a good fit, please share this with a friend or coworker who supports the mission! Allies and non-chamber members are very welcome.
Both the Mentorship and Incubator programs are looking for experienced business people with an interest in supporting and growing the next wave of LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs in our region. Mentees come into the program with vetted, sustainable businesses or ideas, and are eager to learn. The majority of meetings are virtual, though in-person meet-ups with mentees are encouraged. Most mentors report working with a mentee to be insightful and personally rewarding.
The Foundation also has up to 5 general board positions open. All different types of community members are welcome to join, whether you’ve served on a board before, been in business for years, or are new on the scene and looking for ways to connect with the community. Diversity of thought and experience is what makes a good board, so we encourage you to apply!
The Foundation board members serve as ambassadors of the organization as well as key decision makers, all with the mission of supporting the economic development of the LGBTQ+ community. The board meets monthly online, and is encouraged to attend ORPIB events whenever possible.
All interested volunteers are invited to apply on the ORPIB Foundation website.
