Membership Spotlight!
October Spotlight 🎃
Meet Amy Welsh and Cat Bice, co-owners of Birchwood Counseling, a woman-owned, queer-owned mental health agency dedicated to providing collaborative, evidence-based therapy.
Birchwood Counseling focuses on recovery from trauma, PTSD, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and other co-occurring disorders and significant life stressors. Their providers are trained in specialized models of care for trauma and serve individuals, couples, and groups.
Their clients contend with a range of economic, systemic, and individual challenges, including debilitating mental health symptoms that can compromise their ability to reach their full potential and affect daily functioning. Many clients have tried other types of therapy but continue to struggle with PTSD and OCD symptoms because they have not received first-line treatment for their conditions.
Birchwood Counseling provides treatments that empower clients with tools to reduce anxiety and improve their quality of life, with benefits that often continue months after therapy concludes. The practice also collaborates with community partners to help ensure the highest quality of care.
With offices in Portland and Hillsboro, Birchwood Counseling has expanded its reach to rural communities, tripling the number of rural clients it serves in recent years.
As a woman- and queer-owned practice and member of Oregon Pride in Business, Birchwood Counseling is committed to economic equity, professional growth, and community impact. Its ORPIB membership provides resources that support these values and the agency’s continued work.
