ORPIB Overview

Oregon Pride in Business (ORPIB) is the LGBTQIA2S+ Chamber of Commerce serving small businesses in Oregon and SW Washington. Our Chamber seeks to serve communities of LGBTQIA2S+ business owners, non-profit leaders, individual professionals, and students throughout Oregon and SW Washington through Networking, Education, and Advocacy. We host local events, provide ongoing virtual learning opportunities, and engage with Oregon state legislators, including members of the LGBTQ+ Caucus, to support bills that prioritize equality, safety, and economic prosperity. About the Position

ORPIB is governed by a 12-person Board of Directors. This Board meets virtually every month to ensure that the Chamber is operating with financial and ethical integrity. Board members are expected to serve on (or lead!) committees, attend OPRIB events and programming, and encourage membership or sponsorship. Board members set annual strategic plans and ensure that the Chamber continues to grow, thrive, and provide essential resources to its members. 

Duties:

  • Atten6:30pm Pacific time)

  • Participate in Board votes related to ensuring Board compliance, fiduciary duties, and strategic vision for the Chamber

  • Support Board initiatives through one of the following volunteer assignments: 

    • Event Planning

    • Fundraising

    • Membership Engagement and Outreach

  • Serve on (or lead) the following committees: 

    • Advocacy

    • Communications

    • Justice, Equity, Anti-Racism

  • Act as an ambassador and advocate for LGBTQIA2S+ community members

  • Represent the Board and Chamber - assisting with networking, membership expansion, and securing sponsorships or donations

Qualifications:

  • Alignment with ORPIB values and mission. Desire to serve the LGBTQIA2S+ community.

  • Work, volunteer, or leadership experience. (Does not need to have served on a Board before).

  • Professional expertise (shown through work history, education, certifications, volunteer work, etc) in ONE or more of the following areas:

    • Advocacy

    • Communications (Written or Design)

    • Equity or Justice 

    • Event Planning

    • Finance

    • Fundraising

    • Human Resources

    • Publicity (Media Strategy & Comms Operations)

  • Skills such as writing, emailing, participating in virtual calls, project management, strategic planning

  • Behaviors such as initiative, collaboration, relationship-building, centering equity

Requirements:

  • Board meetings are held virtually through Zoom. Applicants will need to have access to Wifi or data for a stable connection.

  • Time commitment: 

    • Board meetings are scheduled for the fourth Thursday of each month from 5pm - 6:30pm Pacific Time

  • Term: We ask Board members to commit to a two-year term following their confirmation (February 2026-January 2028)

What You Can Expect Next:

  • Application deadline is Nov 7.

  • Applicants can expect to receive an update on their candidate status by November 17. We anticipate two rounds of virtual interviews to be conducted the weeks of December 3-16.

  • New Board members will be presented to ORPIB membership at the annual membership meeting (virtually occurring on Jan 29th). 

  • First Board meeting for new Members will be Thursday, Feb 26, 2026.
